The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) chairman Ajendra Ajay has said that some problems were encountered in the initial phase of the Char Dham Yatra due to pilgrims arriving in numbers beyond the carrying capacity of the shrines. However, the pilgrimage is now being facilitated in an orderly manner due to the able management of the State government, he claimed. Those making negative statements about the Yatra should instead provide suggestions for making better arrangements, he added.

With the total number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham so far nearing 10 lakh, Ajay said that there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of people undertaking the pilgrimage this year. He said, “The Char Dham Yatra had been hampered during the Covid-19 pandemic. This had resulted in disappointment among many in the State where the Yatra is considered to be an important contributor ro the economy. However, after that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made efforts to bring the pilgrimage back on track. The State government presented its stand effectively regarding the restrictions imposed by the High Court. As a result, the pilgrimage set new records in 20022 and 2023. The considerable increase in the number of pilgrims undertaking the Yatra now is due to the consistent efforts of the State government. Those making negative statements about the Yatra should refrain from making statements which dent the image of the State.  They should instead provide their suggestions to the government for making the Yatra arrangements better,” Ajay said. He further said that all departments and agencies are working to ensure the successful conduct of the Char Dham Yatra. At such a time, negative statements also affect their morale, he added.
