In latest news from Uttarakhand, while grounding the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s commitment to the youth of presenting to them an international-level cricket stadium, the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) has started developing the Bhalla stadium into a national- level cricket stadium under the guidance of its vice- chairman Anshul Singh. As part of the project, the boundary of the ground is being expanded from 50 meters to 65 meters. Notably, a cricket stadium to reach the status of a national-level one must have a boundary of at least 60 meters. Along with this, three cricket pitches conforming to the international standards are being laid down with special soil being brought in from Alwar in Rajasthan. HRDA officers further informed that pavilion, dressing room and rest room are being built for the stadium. Besides, media centre, commentry box, cafetaria, parking space and sitting arrangements for the spectators are also being provided for the under-construction stadium. The officers concerned expressed the hope that the cricket stadium with national level status would be readied for matches in three months.
