Bharadisain lathi charge
Ex CM asks Govt to seek apology from women protesters
The former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat said that the state government should seek an apology for the lathi charge on women at Bharadisain on Monday.
Talking to the media persons here on Wednesday he said that the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat should himself visit Ghat and offer an apology. He said that the cases filed on the protestors should be withdrawn and an inquiry headed by a High Court judge should be ordered in the incident. Castigating the government for the manner in which it treated the peaceful protest, the former CM said two chief ministers had approved the widening of the Nandprayag- Ghat road but no work on the project has started.
“I am deeply hurt that the simple womenfolk of villages were lathi charged by police. I would visit Ghat tomorrow to express my support to the protestors,’’ he said. The former CM also said that the governor’s address has no roadmap for the state and lacked vision.
