The State president of Bharatiya Janata Party and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt raised concerns in Rajya Sabha about the recruitment process in the Postal department, advocating for preference to local youth in job appointments in Uttarakhand. He urged the central government to conduct recruitment at the divisional level to improve postal services in the hilly areas.
During the ongoing session of Rajya Sabha, Bhatt questioned the process of recent postal department appointments in Uttarakhand. He stated that many selected candidates did not join their posts in remote areas due to geographical challenges, language barriers, harsh weather and cultural differences. He pointed out that Uttarakhand still has several remote regions where post offices play an important role. He stated that local youth possess the necessary educational and technical qualifications required for these positions.
Through the Rajya Sabha, he urged the government to implement a divisional-level recruitment process, as was done in the past. According to him, this approach will not only improve postal services in the hilly regions but also provide employment opportunities to local youth.
