Calling the Congress anti-national and anti-Sanatani, Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt urged the residents of the Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha constituency to vote for the BJP to defeat traitors of the nation and the society in Kedarnath Assembly bypoll on November 20. During his five-day visit to Kedarnath, Bhatt has been participating in a series of public outreach campaigns and street meetings, addressing various gatherings ahead of the Kedarnath bypoll. While campaigning in the villages of Baramwadi in Agastyamuni block on Wednesday, he urged party workers to unite in defeating those he described as traitors of both society and the nation. He emphasised that the people of Kedarnath, like the people in the rest of Devbhoomi, hold strong nationalist values and have observed the anti-national and anti-Sanatan actions of the opposition. Criticising Congress’ 60 years of governance, he stated that, in the past, there were only empty promises, whereas today, people are witnessing and feeling the effects of real development around them. Talking about various developmental and welfare schemes introduced by the current central government and the state government, Bhatt stated that lack of proper educational facilities and rampant cheating mafias had stifled the potential of the youth in the past. However, the stringent anti-cheating laws have ensured a brighter future for upcoming generations, he claimed. He also stated that the government had freed over 5,000 acres of land from illegal religious encroachments in the State, provided 30 per cent reservation for women and secured employment for statehood activists to honour their sacrifices. He further talked about the significant infrastructural improvements made over the past decade, pointing to the availability of roads, electricity, tap water, and mobile connectivity in every village.
