A social media spat started by allegations and counter allegations first started between former Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ of the BJP and the current MLA Umesh Kumar has continued with the State presidents of the BJP and Congress too getting involved in it. In response to Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal’s comment on the spat, Singh claimed that as a first-time MLA, Godiyal had thrown a party at a dance bar in Mumbai where senior party leader Harak Singh Rawat had also danced. Godiyal responded by claiming that the current BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt was also present on the occasion. Responding to this, Bhatt said that it is good that Godiyal had “said in his statement that he was telling a lie”. Bhatt further said that the public are well aware of his personality and will not fall for such claims.
Meanwhile, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that by diverting the issue towards the BJP, Godiyal was trying to take the focus away from himself. “The dispute is part of the Congress’ dark history. The people are well aware of the BJP State president’s values, behaviour and public life,” he said, while adding that Godiyal also refers to Bhatt as his biggest rival while making the statement. The Congress leaders who have been repeatedly rejected by the voters and who indulge in negative politics, have a lot of free time these days. This is why they are indulging in personal politics in order to tackle each other and not hesitating from levelling allegations related to the character. The root cause of the latest dispute is also infighting in the Congress, Chauhan averred.
“What the PCC president said was a partial truth according to his convenience. This was his scheme to raise a question mark on the BJP State president’s image to cause political damage. There has been a culture of dance bars and dance parties in the Congress from its top leaders to the lower rungs. On the other hand, the people have been seeing the BJP’s values, behaviour, work culture and the public experiences related to it. The BJP State president’s record so far has been taintless and that of discipline,” he added.
