PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
Former Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal has condemned the statement of BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt in which he challenged the leaders holding protests against the government to contest the Vidhan Sabha election of 2027.
In an indirect reference to the leaders of the Uttarakhand Swabhiman Morcha who were at the forefront during the recent protest of the unemployed against the paper leak of the graduate-level examination of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC), Bhatt while attending an event of a media group had said that that these leaders have no following in the public. He said that these leaders are trying to vitiate the atmosphere in the State. He said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is very sensitive and takes cognisance of every issue but some people have made it a habit of engaging in politics of agitation. Bhatt challenged these leaders to contest the Vidhan Sabha elections to know their exact place and standing in the public.
Taking exception to the statement of Bhatt, the Congress leader Godiyal said the comment is condemnable and shows his arrogance. “Bhatt is the State president of the ruling party and also a member of parliament and it is not proper for him to become annoyed. Since he is holding important positions, Bhatt should focus on delivery.’’
Terming Bhatt’s statement as a point of discussion for political pundits and analysts, Godiyal said that he is of the view that Bhatt’s intent is to instigate some leaders to contest the elections so that the votes of opposition gets divided.
The former PCC president said that the BJP has understood that things are not in its favour on ground so it is working on a plan of dividing the votes of the opposition.
