The makers of a planned biopic on India’s first country singer Bobby Cash, met governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh on Saturday. The film provisionally titled ‘One in A Billion’ will be an Indo-Australian co-production.

The governor said, “The people of Uttarakhand are blessed as they live in the midst of mesmerizing natural beauty and resources. They must now learn to proactively promote the many picturesque locations and highlight its hospitality. The time is now ripe to project the State in the international forums.”

Dehradun born Cash, who is also the executive producer of the film, was discovered by the world after his hit debut at Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia. The movie will be directed by Australian director Anupam Sharma who is originally from Dehradun. Doon resident Satish Sharma will be producing the film.

Anupam said, “Bobby Cash’s story is such an international story and perfect to narrate for the big screen as a co-production as it organically travels. I am honoured to be chosen to direct this important Indian story, this inspiring musical tale and pioneering journey of an Indian musical genius in Australia.
