In latest news from Doon, the State forest minister Subodh Uniyal inaugurated the 8th Uttarakhand Bird Festival at Benog Bird Sanctuary near Mussoorie. The three-day festival features bird watching, heritage walks and film shows among others. The minister urged the owners of hotels and home stays operating near Mussoorie to highlight bird watching as one of the tourist attraction features. The bird lovers- engaged in taking care of a large number of bird and butterfly species living in the bird watching area- were felicitated too during the inaugural programme.
The minister stressed on the need to carry on with these initiatives which would expand the range of tourism sector and facilitate more tourist footfalls, boosting the locals’ income.
