Says, several resign from AAP
The senior State leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) including the State convenor Jot Singh Bisht resigned from the party on Sunday. Bisht has accused the senior party leaders in Delhi of ignoring the party leaders and members in Uttarakhand. He said that several leaders simultaneously resigned from the primary membership of AAP due to the party’s senior leaders’ apathy and inactiveness.
According to sources, a considerable number of AAP members have left the party due to the party’s inactiveness across the State. At a time when parties are more active in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the urban local bodies elections after that, AAP leaders have been feeling restricted and ignored. Bisht stated that this is also one of the reasons why some prominent personalities who joined AAP in the past soon left the party. He said that it has been about three months since senior party leaders in Delhi announced the dissolution of all of the party’s units in Uttarakhand. They have not appointed new office bearers since then which has severely affected the morale of those who were working for the party diligently for a long time.
“This attitude of senior leaders has created a situation of confusion within the party. Amidst these circumstances, it no longer seems right to stay in the party. Besides this, the senior AAP leaders sitting in Delhi are also holding the reins of Uttarakhand in their hands whereas the leaders of the State here were not being given any attention. Considering all these things, hundreds of party leaders from across the state have decided to leave the party together,” Bisht added. It is also being speculated that Bisht, who had left the Congress party to join AAP, may soon join the BJP ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
However, he did not state anything clearly on the matter. He said, “People from several parties whether it is BJP, Congress, UKD or others have been approaching me to join their party but nothing has been decided yet. Everybody is calling but I will consider the party which gives me respect and a chance to serve the people.” Those who resigned from the party included former state vice president RP Raturi, Kamlesh Raman, Rajesh Bisht and Himmat Singh Bisht, among several others.
