BJP accuses Congress of spreading misinformation about land laws

The State president of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahendra Bhatt has accused Congress of spreading misinformation about the land laws that were approved by the cabinet on Wednesday. He claimed that Congress was responsible for the degradation of the State’s land resources and had misused them during its tenure.
The BJP government has been working to rectify the issue but Congress is allegedly attempting to mislead the public, claimed Bhatt. He called the approval of land laws in the cabinet the government’s commitment to protect Uttarakhand’s land resources and cultural identity. He also expressed gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, stating that it was a historic decision that reaffirmed the BJP’s dedication to the State’s development while preserving its cultural heritage. He said that the BJP has consistently worked towards safeguarding Uttarakhand’s limited land resources. He said, “Recognising public sentiment and the State’s needs, the party had promised a strict land law in its election manifesto. In line with this commitment, Dhami formed a high-level committee to study the issue and consult all stakeholders.
The committee prepared a report after thorough discussions, reviewing the legal, administrative and practical aspects of the proposed law. Following this, the CM pledged to introduce the bill in the assembly during the budget session. The cabinet has now approved the amendment bill, which will be presented for discussion in the assembly.”
Bhatt stated that this move is a significant step towards fulfilling another key promise from the party’s manifesto. He expressed confidence that once enacted, the stringent land law will play a crucial role in protecting the State’s resources, cultural heritage and citizens’ rights. He also appealed to Congress MLAs to participate constructively in the assembly debate rather than making political statements outside.
