The Bharatiya Janata Party is moving ahead with its programmes with the aim of winning all the municipal corporation seats in the urban local body elections. During his Kumaon tour, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt participated in various meetings to discuss aspects including raising the vote percentage and voter turnout. Talking to the media, Bhatt said that he had held discussions with party leaders in 35 local bodies during his week in Kumaon. He said that the focus of the party is on motivating as many people as possible to vote in the election. Stating that the BJP is fully prepared for the ULB elections, he said that the future strategy will be followed as soon as the election dates are announced. The process of selecting candidates will begin with the declaration of the election schedule. Observers will be sent to the districts to prepare a list of those wanting to contest the polls. The candidates will be selected after discussing these names with the local party workers, office bearers and a public survey. Bhatt said that the BJP is moving forward with the aim of achieving a record improvement on the last ULB elections. The BJP had won in six out of eight municipal corporations and is aiming to win in all this time, he said, while adding that the party will also achieve resounding wins in the municipalities.
