The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed 78 observers for urban local body elections in Uttarakhand on Monday. The party appointed 33 observers for municipal corporations and 45 observers for municipalities and Nagar Panchayats. The BJP has appointed Suresh Bhatt, Durgeshwar Lal and Sanjay Gupta as observers for the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun. Khilendra Chaudhary, Mira Raturi and Shashank Rawat were appointed as observers of the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar. Sahdev Pundir, Madhu Bhatt and Mukesh Koli have been appointed as observers of Municipal Corporation of Roorkee.
Talking about the party’s candidates for ULB elections, the State media in-charge of BJP Manveer Singh Chauhan said that a meeting has already taken place to assess the potential candidates for seats in each category such as Scheduled Castes (SC), ST, Other Backward Classes (OBC) and the general category. “BJP is focused on identifying the strongest candidates in these categories to ensure a robust electoral strategy,” he said. He further informed that the party has appointed observers to assess the political landscape in each ULB to identify influential candidates capable of securing victories. Based on these reports, the party will formulate its action plan for the elections, he said.
Chauhan stated that the BJP is carrying out all preparations efficiently across all ULBs in the State. The deployment of observers is expected to streamline the candidate selection process and strengthen the party’s position ahead of the elections, he added. “We are actively working to ensure a strong presence in the ULB elections and to retain BJP’s dominance,” he added.
