In a major political development the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed new in charge and co- in charges in Uttarakhand. The party has appointed senior leader Ram Madhav as the new in-charge of the party in the State. He will replace Dushyant Gautam. The BJP’s central leadership has also appointed Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj and Arvind Menon as the co-in charges of the party in the State. They will replace Rekha Verma. Incidentally, the outgoing in-charge of the State unit Gautam stoked controversy in the State when Urmila Sanwar, the estranged wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore connected him with the sensational Ankita Bhandari murder case.
The appointment of Madhav as new in-charge of the State unit of the BJP in Uttarakhand assumes significance in view of the Vidhan Sabha elections in the State expected to be held in February- March next year. Madhav is known for his organisational skills and hard work. His immediate task will be to gear up the formidable organisation of the BJP for the crucial Vidhan Sabha polls. In Uttarakhand the BJP has been ruling since 2017 and the party is now seeking a hat trick of victories in the Vidhan Sabha electons.
