BJP bags prestigious Kedarnath constituency

The ruling BJP has won the crucial Kedarnath Assembly bypoll. In the election the BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal defeated her Congress rival Manoj Rawat. In the counting of EVM votes spread over 13 rounds, she secured 23,130 votes while Rawat got 18,031 votes in the bypoll.
Surprising the political observer independent candidate Tribhuwan Chauhan cornered 9,266 votes. The victory of Nautiyal has come as a major relief to the ruling BJP and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. After losing the Assembly by-elections of Manglaur and Badrinath in July this year pressure was on BJP and CM to retain the Kedarnath seat.
