BJP calls Congress’ Samvidhan Bachao Rally ill-timed, irrelevant & flop

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly criticised the Samvidhan Bachao Rally of Congress held on the day of the Char Dham Yatra’s commencement, calling it poorly timed and against Sanatan values. The rally was ill-timed and completely failed in terms of both participation and relevance, the State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt claimed.

He welcomed the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra on Wednesday, stating that despite opposition efforts, a new era of tourism has begun. He said that the State government, with support from local residents, will take responsibility for every pilgrim. Commenting on the Congress rally, Bhatt said that both the country and the State are currently in a crucial phase of security and development but Congress continues to engage in what he described as irresponsible politics. He emphasised that the Char Dham Yatra is vital for the State’s economy, strengthening local businesses and self-employment.

According to him, the Yatra’s growing success has put Uttarakhand on the global tourism map but Congress has chosen to oppose rather than support this progress. Bhatt claimed that Congress is more concerned with its political survival than with the success of the pilgrimage. He said the party has no moral ground to raise constitutional issues and that the public has already rejected many of its previous agendas. He added that Congress leaders and their views lack public support, which is evident from the low turnout and lack of impact at their events.

He accused the party of planning political events to interfere with the pilgrimage and spreading misinformation to harm the State’s image. Bhatt said the public has already shown its support for the government by distancing itself from Congress’s campaigns and this shift is now reflecting in the party’s events.
