BJP cautions Kedarnath voters against Congress’ promises

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has urged the public to remain vigilant regarding Congress’ promises ahead of the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll, claiming that they are often unrealistic and intended to mislead voters ahead of elections. He pointed to a recent statement by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, advising State leaders to make budget-based guarantees to avoid financial crises. Bhatt asserted that this advice exposes Congress’s history of unfulfilled promises and alleged that voters in various states are now rejecting Congress due to these broken commitments. Referring to Kharge’s comments directed at Maharashtra’s Congress unit to only make budget-backed promises, Bhatt claimed it highlights Congress’ strategy of making unattainable promises to secure votes. “In States like Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, Congress made promises that it is now unable to fulfill. These governments are struggling financially, with no funds left for employees’ salaries and delays in payments to legislators and ministers,” Bhatt stated. He further stated that BJP operates differently, making promises that are financially feasible and backed by budget provisions. “Our commitments are Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitments and they carry a guarantee of being fulfilled,” Bhatt said. He also took a jab at Kharge, suggesting he should teach this lesson to Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of making misleading promises for electoral gains. He also challenged Congress leadership to publicly apologise for the unfulfilled promises made by their governments in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. The BJP State chief called on the people of Uttarakhand, particularly those in Kedarnath constituency, to be wary of similar promises made by Congress leaders, asserting that Congress is using the same strategies locally as it has nationally, just to lure voters.
