The media in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the new land law introduced by the State government will be instrumental in preserving Uttarakhand’s original identity. He emphasised that strict administrative measures are being undertaken to identify and verify illegal land transactions, creating unrest among those involved in such activities.
He said that as the land law nears implementation, authorities are uncovering records of significant land purchases, signaling that the process is on the right track. He stated that the State administration recently issued warnings to residents, advising them against selling land to outsiders who have made purchases violating legal provisions. Such transactions could lead to financial losses for locals, he said. He claimed that the large-scale violations of land laws by outsiders have been a recurring concern since the State’s formation and considering the limited land resources, the encroachments have long troubled local communities.
Chauhan said that the State government plans to present a comprehensive report by a high-level committee in the upcoming budget session, addressing all critical aspects of the land law.He criticised opposition parties for politicising the issue unnecessarily and urged them to rise above biased politics, emphasising the need to demonstrate true Uttarakhandiyat by supporting the government’s efforts. He assured that the BJP government is committed to providing a robust solution to the State’s land issues through the enactment of the new law.
