BJP & Congress leaders meet families of hooch victims

Former Union minister and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank reached Phulgarh and Shivgarh villages where about a dozen persons have died reportedly after consuming hooch. He met relatives of the deceased and assured all possible help to them. He also instructed officials to ensure proper treatment of those who had fallen sick after consuming the hooch. Nishank said that families of those killed by hooch will be provided assistance by the government. Referring to a statement made by Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, he said that the Congress should refrain from playing politics at such a time and instead help the victims.Meanwhile, Singh also visited the two villages and enquired about the condition of the families of the people who died after drinking hooch. He said that the State government is responsible for the liquor scandal, he said the government is sitting idle despite the major tragedy which has taken place in these two villages. No compensation has been announced for the families of the deceased so far, he added.
