BJP criticises Congress leaders for skipping Mahakumbh, calls it anti-Sanatan move

The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly criticised Congress leaders of Uttarakhand for their absence at the recently concluded Mahakumbh, calling it a reflection of their true anti-Sanatan face. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that Congress leaders here deliberately stayed away from the religious congregation, fearing the reaction of their high command.

He accused the Congress of using religion only as a political tool, claiming that while BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are true proponents of Sanatan culture, other parties visit temples only during elections. He said that a senior Congress leader and former chief minister is now announcing new dates to visit the site after the Mahakumbh has ended, which he termed as mere political posturing.

Addressing the media, Bhatt said that the Nehru-Gandhi family does not genuinely respect Hindu traditions and only engages in temple visits when politically beneficial. He criticised Congress leaders from Uttarakhand, stating that despite belonging to the land of gods, they lacked the courage to attend the event. He also said that Congress leaders here have not yet mustered the courage to visit the newly built Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

He said that the BJP leaders actively participated in the Mahakumbh and took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam alongside millions of devotees. Bhatt stated that BJP remains committed to preserving and promoting Sanatana Dharma, whereas Congress continues to mislead the majority Hindu community by spreading misinformation about sacred places.
