The chief ministerial candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ajay Kothiyal
said that the recent statement of the cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat stating the central government is not approving the project of providing 100 units of free electricity, has cleared BJP’s stance on giving free electricity to the public. He said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has no intention of giving free electricity to people. Addressing mediapersons in a Press conference in the party’s state office in Dehradun, he said that Rawat had said that the state government made the plan to provide 100 units of free electricity but the central government is not approving it. He stated, “On one hand, he says that the public here need 100 units of free electricity, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic hit many across the state. On the other hand, he says that the state made the plan but the centre is not approving it. I do not understand why they need the centre’s permission for the execution of this announcement.
If they cannot execute it, why are they trying to mislead people with the free electricity announcement?” Kothiyal said that as per Rawat’s statement, if BJP will provide free electricity here, they will have to do the same in other states with BJP government which, according to him, the BJP does not know how to achieve. He said that BJP is also claiming that many were provided with free electricity when the pandemic hit the state which is obviously bogus. He said, “I demand that the government show me a single electricity bill that proves this statement. AAP can show lakhs of such bills in Delhi where the amount in bills is zero because we know how to do it.” He also invited opposition leaders to Delhi along with him to show how AAP executed its plans and promises. He said, “I am going to Delhi on December 21 and since opposition leaders question AAP’s credibility to fulfill the announcements here, I would like to invite BJP and Congress leaders to show them how AAP has executed its promises across Delhi in every field. Unlike them, we have a proven record to show we are capable of fulfilling the promise we make in elections.”
