The Bharatiya Janata Party has declared the late cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass’ wife Parvati Das as its candidate in the Bageshwar Assembly bypoll. The Congress is likely to announce Basant Das, the former AAP candidate who joined the party on Sunday as its candidate from Bageshwar though the name had not been officially announced till the time of filing this report.
After declaration of the party candidate’s name, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the party will win the bypoll with record votes due to the work done by Chandan Ram Dass. He said that the party workers and locals of Bageshwar are happy after the BJP central parliamentary board selected Parvati Dass as the candidate. He said that the late cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass had done considerable work for the development of Bageshwar due to which the sentiments and faith of the party workers and locals are with a personality like him. Being his wife, Parvati Dass was involved in all his social and organisational works.
The dreams that Chandan Ram Dass saw for Bageshwar’s development will be taken forward by his wife according to the expectations of the public, he said. Bhatt expressed confidence that the people of Bageshwar will ensure the BJP candidate’s victory by a record number of votes to take forward the late cabinet minister’s developmental efforts and as a tribute to his work. Targetting the Congress, he said that the opposition party has no faith in its chances of a victory in the Bageshwar bypoll.
The Congress knows that the people are happy with the work of the double engine government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The people of Bageshwar are seeing how the Congress is getting a candidate from outside the party. They cannot expect much from a person who can ditch his own party, added Bhatt.
