The media in charge of Garhwal division of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni has accused the government of the state of ignoring the daughters of poor households. In a statement Dasauni said, “BJP, which has been continuously giving the slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, is cheating the daughters and the condition has come to such an extent that the daughters are needed to be saved from the people of BJP and RSS.”
Dasoni further added that in the last four and a half years, the BJP government in Uttarakhand has proved it on multiple occasions that the daughters of the state are not safe from BJP or RSS. She mentioned the cases involving former general secretary organization Sanjay Kumar, Dwarahat MLA Mahesh Negi and the Jwalapur MLA Suresh Rathore in support of her statement. Dasauni said that the state government stands with those who have been accused and not with the victims.
Dasauni stated that the previous Congress government of Uttarakhand had started two schemes, Nanda Devi Yojana and Gaura Devi Yojana to make women strong and self-reliant and under them a sum of Rs Rs 1.13 lakh was transferred to the girl’s account from the birth of the girl child till her marriage but the BJP government hanged the scheme and now only Rs 51000 are transferred to them. Furthermore, the amount has not been transferred in some accounts and those families are still waiting. Moreover, the financial condition of the girls who want to take benefits under this scheme is not very strong and the State government is expecting that a girl who has passed an Intermediate should first make a PAN card and then get the benefit. This reflects the attitude of the government towards women.
