The Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttarakhand is not bothered about the common people, alleged Congress national spokesman Pawan Khera. He was addressing a Press conference here on Sunday. Khera said that the double-engine government in Uttarakhand had insulted the majority given to it by the voters by giving the state three chief ministers in four and a half years.
The two major problems of price rise and unemployment have reached alarming proportions in the state to the detriment of the poor and middle class. He alleged that the state government had not provided any new employment to the educated unemployed youth of the state in the past four and a half years. Khera said that according to the NSO the unemployment rate in Uttarakhand is 14.2 per cent. This does not include about three lakh natives who returned to Uttarakhand during the Covid lockdown. The Congress spokesman further said that compared to other mountain states, the pace of tourism in Uttarakhand is slow.
Farmers have not been given the benefit of crop insurance in the state. “The debt of the state is also rising consistently and by March 31, 2022 the debt burden is estimated to reach Rs 68,000 crore. However, this double engine government of the BJP is still talking about good days. The people of Uttarakhand have now understood the BJP and will give it a befitting reply in the coming Assembly elections,” he said.
