Expressing deep concern over increasing migration from parts of the State, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that the BJP government in Uttarakhand has failed to check the migration from the mountainous areas of the state.
The Garhwal media in-charge of AAP Ravindra Anand said that more than five lakh people have migrated from Uttarakhand in the last ten years. He said that unemployment is the chief cause of migration as people are forced to go out of the state in search of livelihood.
He said that the data released by the Rural Development department and Rural Development and Migration Commission suggests that 42 per cent of those who migrated from the State were in the age group of 26 years to 35 years. Anand said that in the last five years the unemployment has increased steadily in Uttarakhand which manifested in migration.
Holding the BJP government responsible for the migration in the last five years, the AAP leader said that the BJP made false promises to the people of Uttarakhand. He said that the BJP government had made a promise that it would provide two crore employment every year but it proved to be mere rhetoric. He accused the BJP of playing with the sentiments and future of youth and said that it should stop considering youth as its vote bank. Anand said that the government should fulfil its promise of providing employment to the youth and if it does this the migration would automatically stop from the mountainous parts of the State.
