Responding to the allegations of Congress leader Ganesh Godiyal that the BJP is trying to demoralise him by sending him summons from the Income Tax department, the BJP state media in- charge Manvir Chauhan said that it is his failed attempt to gain political sympathy for Lok Sabha elections. He called Godiyal’s allegations baseless and claimed it to be an attempt by Congress to spread confusion among people regarding the matter.
He said that it is clear from the facts that when these cases were registered, there was a Congress led government in the Centre as well as in Maharashtra. This clearly shows that BJP has nothing to do with all these matters. Chauhan said that all these cases are in the court and hence receiving such notices is a part of the legal process.
The authorities have just done their duties and nothing wrong. They are not being threatened or forced by anybody to take such legal actions. He even claimed that Godiyal must have received such notices in the past as well but he always talks about them only during election time. The public understands his deceitful behaviour and that caused him his seat in the last assembly elections of the State. He will witness the same fate in Lok Sabha elections too, Chauhan added.
