BJP honours families of statehood activists on foundation day

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised seminars in all its 252 Mandals across Uttarakhand and honoured the families of the statehood activists and martyrs who were jailed during the statehood movement on the occasion of the State Foundation Day on Wednesday.

An exhibition was also organised in the party’s headquarter in Dehradun which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP state president, Mahendra Bhatt. In the exhibition, the party showcased the various stages of struggle for the formation of the State, various levels of development in the State besides remembering the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the establishment of a separate State. The party also organised seminars in Dehradun, Mussoorie, Khatima, Haldwani and Srinagar apart from its 252 Mandals where the party workers honoured the families of the martyrs and agitators who went to jail during the movement.

The president of Uttarakhand BJP Mahendra Bhatt said that the constructive suggestions received from all seminars would be used in making development plans of the State. Bhatt said that the State which was formed under the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is now being nurtured by all together under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi. The former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Tehri MP Maharani Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah and several prominent BJP leaders were also present during the event in Dehradun.
