BJP labels Congress’ protest a display of desperation

The Bharatiya Janata Party has labelled the Congress’ protest against the FIR filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a display of desperation and frustration. The BJP State  media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Congress’ actions reflect its true anti-constitutional face. He pointed out that the attack on MPs and the mistreatment of a female MP were clear violations of the constitution.

He described the events that unfolded in parliament on Thursday as another dark chapter orchestrated by Congress after the Emergency. He accused Gandhi of undermining the dignity of the position of Leader of the Opposition by attacking the MPs. He further criticised him for failing to enquire about the well-being of an elderly injured MP and instead returning to use abusive language.

He stated that Gandhi’s arrogance suggests that he still believes it is his birthright to treat MPs like subjects. Despite this behaviour, the rule of law prevails in the country and everyone is equal in the eyes of the law, he said. He stated that it would have been more appropriate for Gandhi to apologise for his actions but his continued misconduct leaves little room for doubt that legal action is inevitable. “Congress’ protests and opposition cannot change the truth as the people and the law have already recognised their unconstitutional actions,” he opined.
