BJP leader Saurabh Thapliyal files nomination as mayoral candidate from Doon

The mayoral candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party from Dehradun, Saurabh Thapliyal filed nomination in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Monday. Several candidates reached the MCD premises to file their nominations on the final day of the nomination process for the urban local bodies elections on Monday. Thapliyal also arrived at the corporation’s office to officially file his nomination papers. He was accompanied by a large number of BJP supporters, including key party leaders such as Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli and Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das.
The gathering reflected the party’s robust support for their candidate, with workers and office bearers turning up in significant numbers to express solidarity. Addressing the media after filing his nomination, Thapliyal expressed gratitude to the party for entrusting him with this important responsibility. He pledged to fulfill this role with utmost dedication and commitment, emphasising his determination to deliver on the party’s vision for Dehradun.
Acknowledging the challenges and opportunities that come with the expansion of Dehradun’s municipal wards from 60 to 100, Thapliyal outlined his priorities for the city. He assured that his focus will be on ensuring cleanliness, beauty and hygiene in every ward, alongside enhancing basic infrastructure and public amenities to improve the quality of life for all residents.
