In latest Uttarakhand news, the State BJP leaders expressed their gratitude to the Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the Delhi-Kotdwar train service. Earlier, two compartments used to be attached to Mussoorie Express at Najibabad railway junction and these were operated from Kotdwar station. But during the pandemic this facility stopped, landing the people of Pauri district and particularly those from Kotdwar, engaged in business, in difficulty in travelling from Kotdwar to Delhi and vice versa. According to the State BJP leaders, the army personnel have also been facing the same travel inconvenience. The State BJP spokesperson Vipin Kanthola said that Pauri district traders’ association members had met the MP Anil Baluni on whose request the Railway minister had approved the new train and told him that aside from solving their travel problems, the new train would give fillip to tourism in Lansdowne. “Besides, Lansdowne housing the Garhwal Rifles headquarters, the new train when operationalised would make the army personnel’s travel from Kotdwar to Delhi and vice versa smoother,” the BJP leader said.
