Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat accused the BJP government of trying to influence the outcome of the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll by misusing the official machinery. Addressing a Press conference here on Monday, Rawat said that the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is also telling lies in the election campaign. He said that the CM is claiming that Congress candidate Manoj Rawat failed to use his MLA local area development fund and Rs six crore of the fund lapsed. Rawat showed some documents and claimed that the CDO has certified that 90 per cent of the MLA local area development fund was utilised by Manoj Rawat when he was the MLA.
Rawat also raised the issue of missing gold from Kedarnath and added that it is a mystery that the gold got converted to brass and the silver panels were sold. He said that the Dhami government is planning to outsource the Char Dham Yatra and it has given the work of registration of pilgrims to a Gujarat based company.
The former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal claimed that the BJP is putting pressure on the residents of Kedarnath residing in cities such as Delhi and Dehradun to cast their vote in Kedarnath by offering them money which is a violation of the model code of conduct.
He also accused the BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal of remaining quiet on the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the issue of the VIP involved in the heinous crime.
Godiyal claimed that after the victory in Badrinath the Congress is all set to win the Kedarnath bypoll.
