The third and final day of the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha witnessed an unusual moment when in absence of the members of opposition Congress party, the ruling party MLAs forced the government to send the contentious Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation 1959) Amendment Bill 2024 to the select committee.

When the government was passing the bills, the BJP MLA from Vikasnagar, Munna Singh Chauhan raised an objection to the OBC reservation proposed in the bill. He said that the one-member dedicated commission conducted a rapid survey of the OBCs in the State and on its report the reservation to the castes has been determined in the proposed bill. He said that the interests of the natives of the State should be protected and for it the dedicated commission should listen to the objections of the public representatives. Chauhan said that the Vidhan Sabha should fulfill its constitutional duty and send the bill to the select committee. The Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli and Dhanaulti MLA Pritam Singh supported Chauhan following which the Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal requested the speaker to send the bill to the select committee. Following the request the speaker sent the bill to the select committee.
