BJP on ground to help tackle Joshimath situation
PMO also keeping tab on the land subsidence situation: Bhatt

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt took feedback from a 14-member team sent by the party to assess the situation in Joshimath where land subsidence is posing a serious threat to the people and the city. He said that recommendations of the team will be considered to ascertain how to provide swift relief to the people in Joshimath. The Prime Minister’s office is also monitoring the situation, he said.
Bhatt said that the party is also monitoring the subsidence affected area in Joshimath at the organisational level while also maintaining communication with the locals. Important points in the report of the organisation will be shared with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Coordination will be established with the agencies involved in relief works and the organisation will also do its bit, he said. The BJP State president assured that the State government is taking all necessary steps in the interests of the people, adding that the party organisation stands with the government in this problematic time. The State government is working towards a solution with the involvement of scientific surveys and best technical solutions. The State and Central governments are sensitive to the problems being faced by the locals, said Bhatt, while adding that the Prime Minister’s office is also taking regular updates on the issue. On the directions of the chief minister, the officials are providing all necessary assistance to the disaster affected building owners and businessmen. The government is working on a war footing for resolving the situation, he said. All emergency measures are being taken on the directions of the chief minister. All construction works within the municipal area, work on the Helang bypass and NTPC’s Tapovan-Vishnugad hydro power project have already been stopped with immediate effect while the operation of the Joshimath-Auli ropeway has also been stopped. Prefabricated structures are being prepared for shifting the affected families, he added.
Bhatt said that as a responsible political party, the BJP had sent a 14-member team headed by the party’s State general secretary Aditya Kothari also assessed the situation in Joshimath on Friday. The team interacted with the expert team present there, local public representatives, affected families and the district administration.
