Congress leader Rajiv Mehrishi has opined that the Bharatiya Janata Party government is trying to create divisions in the society on the issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He warned that the BJP should stop playing with fire otherwise it could get scalded in this very fire.
He said that there is no need for UCC in Uttarakhand and the BJP has brought it only for political gains. Mehrishi said that the government should clarify as to what benefit the State will get from UCC. Instead of wasting energy on useless things, the government should focus on the welfare of the people, he said.
The Congress leader said that the government is paying no attention to the migration from the mountainous areas, rising prices and unemployment.
