The Uttarakhand unit of BJP has demanded a public apology from the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara for his allegedly offending comment on the people of Garhwal. The spokesperson of State BJP and Rajpur MLA Khajan Das said on Wednesday that the Congress party has hurt the sentiment of a brave society during the Swabhiman Nyay Yatra.
Terming the comment made by Mahara as shameful, the BJP leader said that it shows the thinking of the Congress leaders. He claimed that the Yatra taken out by the Congress party on the Ankita Bhandari case failed to elicit public support which made the Congress leaders angry. Khajan Das said that the people are satisfied by the steps taken by the Dhami government in the case and the judicial process is being forwarded with the acceptance of the affected family. He added that the people of the State have understood the policies of the Congress party and that is why its Yatra drew no support from the general public.
