BJP slams Congress’s protest, labels it a ‘Flop Show’

The Bharatiya Janata Party termed the Congress’ Secretariat gherao a flop show alleging that the opposition party’s actions are driven by frustration. The State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan accused the Congress of being complicit in corruption related to drugs and government appointments and claimed that after being repeatedly rejected by the people, Congress is resorting to political theatrics. Reacting to the Congress’ rally organised by its youth wing, Chauhan accused the opposition of making baseless allegations regarding unemployment. He said, “The BJP government’s record of providing jobs is unmatched, citing the 19,000 government positions filled during the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s tenure. The State government, with support from the central government, has facilitated employment for thousands of youths in private companies and through self-employment initiatives. The government has enabled numerous youths to start their own businesses.”
Chauhan said that Congress opposed the country’s strictest anti-copying law introduced by Dhami to secure the future of young aspirants and it is now ironically invoking youth-related issues to further its political agenda. The BJP leader also accused Congress leaders of politicising the serious issue of drug abuse during their rally, alleging that the opposition party was complicit in promoting drug networks in the State during its previous tenure.
Chauhan claimed that Congress took inspiration from Punjab’s infamous drug crisis to facilitate similar trades in Uttarakhand, offering protection to illicit activities. He also condemned the alleged disruption caused by Congress workers during a sports event for journalists in Police Line, terming it a direct attack on democracy’s fourth pillar. He accused Congress of being disheartened by continuous electoral defeats and resorting to hostility against various sections of society.
