The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt is heading the party’s election campaign efforts in Badrinath for the Assembly bypoll. He is touring various areas in the constituency and has had discussions with various sections. According to the party, Bhatt heading the campaign and his discussion with the stakeholders has boosted the enthusiasm of the party workers.
Meanwhile, the BJP has also managed to placate Virendra Singh Bhandari, the cousin of the BJP candidate from Badrinath Surendra Singh Bhandari, who had earlier announced that he would contest the bypoll in Badrinath as an independent candidate. Regional BJP leader Virendra Singh Bhandari was miffed at not being fielded by the party and at the party fielding his cousing, who he said had worked against the BJP and party workers for years before defecting from the Congress to the BJP. He met chief minister Pushkar Singh Bhandari and Bhatt and communicated some of his issues to them. After the meeting, he assured the CM and Bhatt that as a dedicated BJP worker, he will extend his full support to the party candidate in the Badrinath Assembly bypoll.
It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP candidate in Badrinath, Rajendra Singh Bhandari was the local MLA before he left the Congress to join the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP is confident of achieving a resounding victory in this constituency.
