The Bharatiya Janata Party will start its formal Assembly election campaign in the state from February 1. Informing the media about this on Sunday, Union minister and the party’s state election in-charge Pralhad Joshi said that along with Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar and Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur, BJP state president Madan Kaushik and all former chief ministers of Uttarakhand will be present on the occasion. Joshi also launched the party’s election theme song during the Press conference.
Joshi said that in observance of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for safety considering Covid-19, public meets will be organised in all the 70 Assembly constituencies. Virtual meetings will be displayed on LED screens for the general public. He said, “We have proved why the double-engine government is necessary for development. The work of this government can be seen considering the pace of development from 2017 to 2022. It is due to the double-engine government that development works of more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore are being undertaken in the state. The Congress too was given an opportunity to run a double-engine government but both their engines- in the state and centre kept moving in opposite directions due to which they were unable to execute even one major work in the state.”
Targetting the Congress, Joshi said that the people of Uttarakhand know well that the ‘Char Dham-Char Kaam’ slogan of the Congress will be replaced if it forms the government as then it will only collect money. He said that the Congress’ biggest face in the state- Harish Rawat was seen giving license to loot the state in a sting operation. On the other hand, the BJP government executed all development schemes with a zero tolerance for corruption.
Joshi further said, “In addition to being Hindu as per convenience, the Congress also becomes affectionate towards the armed forces during the elections. Today it is pretending to care for the soldiers but should say why it did not implement their one rank one pension demand after 1972.Soon after assuming charge, PM Narendra Modi fulfilled this demand which is now benefitting about 22 lakh retired servicemen. The nationalist people of Uttarakhand will not forget the late Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat was called a ‘Sadak ka goonda’, how one of their chief minister called terrorists martyr and brave soldiers murderers while another chief minister sought proof of the surgical strike.”
He averred that PM Modi wearing a cap from Uttarakhand on Republic Day is real ‘Uttarakhandiyat’. He also spoke about various works of the State government. The BJP national media in-charge Anil Baluni and other office bearers of the party were also present on the occasion.
