The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed the announcement of the Kedarnath by-election dates, with the party’s State president Mahendra Bhatt expressing confidence that the BJP would replicate the impressive performance seen in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana in the Kedarnath constituency. Bhatt claimed that the people of Kedarnath are prepared to deflate the balloon of lies propagated by the Congress. Reacting to the election announcement, Bhatt stated that the party is fully prepared to seek the blessings of the Kedarnath Assembly voters. He said that party workers have been actively working in the area since the Lok Sabha elections. Given that the BJP is a cadre-based party, its workers remain consistently active among the people.
He also stated that the party had already appointed an Assembly in-charge, co-incharge, and managers for the constituency’s five zones in anticipation of the by-election. Talking about the achievements of the double-engine government, Bhatt said that the historic development projects and the party’s ideological commitment are evident to the public. He expressed optimism that the BJP candidate is poised for a record victory in the constituency based on ground level feedback. The Kedarnath Assembly seat, traditionally held by the BJP, became vacant following the demise of MLA Shaila Rani Rawat.
Bhatt emphasised the need to complete the unfinished development projects of the late MLA and sought the people’s support in this endeavour. According to him, the electorate faces a choice between the BJP, which is committed to transforming the region through policies focused on development and cultural heritage, and the opposition, led by the Congress, which has allegedly opposed various developmental initiatives, including the transformation of Kedarnath. He further criticised the Congress for not supporting efforts to preserve Uttarakhand’s Sanatani identity and for allegedly opposing measures to curb the infiltration of outsiders that could disrupt the peaceful environment.
