The Bharatiya Janata Party has initiated preparations for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, emphasising a strong and disciplined organisational structure. During its Sangathan Parv workshop held here on Sunday, the party made it clear that individuals involved in indiscipline or anti-party activities will not be given any position within the organisation. The workshop, was attended by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and central observer Rajkumar Chahar. Other notable attendees included BJP’s national co-election in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, national vice president and State co-incharge Rekha Verma, State general secretary (organisation) Ajaey Kumar, State election officer Khajan Das, State general secretary Aditya Kothari and Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal. Addressing the workshop, Dhami talked about the significance of the Sangathan Parv stating that the selection of mandal and district presidents during this phase will shape a robust leadership for the upcoming elections. He emphasised the necessity of forming a new team to tackle political challenges and secure victory in the 2027 Assembly elections along with other upcoming polls. He also referenced his speeches during election campaigns in Delhi, where he highlighted Uttarakhand’s development under the BJP government. He said that whenever he asked the people why such progress was possible, the unanimous response was double-engine government of BJP. He stated that this model had gained public trust across States and was a key reason for the party’s consecutive electoral successes. He further stated that Uttarakhand had broken the trend of alternating governments by re-electing the BJP, securing all five Lok Sabha seats thrice in a row and winning municipal and by-elections convincingly. He appealed to the party members to assemble a dedicated team of workers who will ensure victory not just in the Assembly elections but also in cooperative and panchayat polls. He stated that through the Sangathan Parv, the party aims to build a team of committed and capable workers who can contribute time and effort to the organisation. Chahar also reiterated the importance of discipline and adherence to the party’s core values. He said that BJP has successfully established double-engine governments in multiple States. He stated that, against the target of 1.5 million primary members in Uttarakhand, the party had registered 2.1 million, surpassing its goal for active workers as well. He also emphasised the need to ensure fair representation of all social groups in the party’s leadership, noting the increasing participation of women in politics. Bhatt also announced deadlines for leadership appointments, stating that mandal presidents will be selected by February 20 while district presidents will be finalised by February 28. He urged party workers to ensure that dedicated and capable individuals were appointed to these roles to strengthen the organisation ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasised the need for inclusivity in leadership selection, considering regional and social dynamics to build a robust structure. Bhatt also issued strict instructions against appointing individuals with a history of indiscipline to any party position. He emphasised that ensuring discipline was not just the responsibility of the State leadership but of all observers and party workers. He further stated that the selection process should be based on consensus wherever possible, and he called for the completion of district president elections by February to allow Uttarakhand’s participation in the national BJP leadership selection in March. He said that this workshop marked a crucial step in BJP’s roadmap for the 2027 Assembly elections, reinforcing the party’s focus on discipline, grassroots leadership and strategic organisation to secure a third consecutive term in Uttarakhand.
