Reacting to the statement of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had offered prayers in Kedarnath to save his party from the threat of BJP, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that BJP leaders view the religious spots only from the perspective of vote bank and politics. He said that the common man, poor, unemployed, farmers and women have been under threat ever since BJP came to power.
Mahara said that every Hindu has faith in Lord Kedarnath and that He is known as a saviour. The PCC chief said that Rahul Gandhi had gone to Kedarnath to offer prayers to save the people from the threat of BJP. He said that after the disaster of 2013 the then government at the Centre headed by Manmohan Singh worked hard to make the Char Dham Yatra safe and accessible within one year. Mahara said that at that time the BJP leaders were saying that the Char Dham Yatra is not safe but Rahul Gandhi went on foot to Kedarnath at that time to give the message of a safe Char Dham Yatra.
The Congress leader said that the BJP only tries to take credit for the works done by others but the Congress party initiated construction works in Kedarnath and other religious places and never engaged in the politics of religion. The PCC president said that the BJP governments at the Centre and State need to heed to the pleas of the residents of subsidence affected Joshimath.
