The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of a fast track court to dispose of the case of the NEET paper leak. Cabinet minister Khajan Das claimed that the BJP governments prioritise the future of the nation while the opposition focuses on politicising it. He strongly condemned the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of misusing his constitutional rights to blatantly violate the PM’s security protocol for staging a political drama.
Addressing the media at the BJP headquarters here on Thursday, Das averred that the interests of the students are foremost for Modi and that he is taking decisions based on this. “Top priority is being accorded to the welfare of youth and their future under the BJP governments. Nobody who plays with the future of the youth will be spared. We welcome the PM’s decision regarding fast-track courts to ensure swift and strict punishment to those responsible in the NEET paper leak,” he said.
The minister questioned Gandhi’s and the opposition’s stance, questioning why they are not taking part in the debate in the parliament. “Gandhi must understand that this is not the time to play politics but to solve the problems of the students. However, the opposition doesn’t intend to discuss the NEET issue but spread anarchy instead. Students and their issues should not be politicised. We want a discussion on the NEET issue in the parliament, like the students. It is surprising that Gandhi always runs away from debate while the government favours debate. Gandhi and the opposition don’t want a solution in favour of the students but want to hold the parliament for ransom,” Das said.
