The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has thanked chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the entire team involved for making public the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Advising the Congress to also read the draft he said that it should study the UCC draft instead of spreading rumours, failing which the public will clear the misapprehensions it has.
The BJP State president said that the time has come to execute on the ground the mandate of the public regarding the UCC. “The Congress should read the draft to clear its doubts otherwise the public will once again clear its quandary in the elections. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has already made it clear that the people in Uttarakhand will be under the protection of a uniform law from October this year. We are grateful for the serious and courageous efforts of the CM for making this historic law a reality. This law becoming a ground reality will also fulfill the promise made to the people during the election,” Bhatt said.
He expressed hope that the misapprehensions and rumours being spread about this law will be cleared with the draft being made public. The people will be able to learn about the new legal provisions from the website which is a good step.
