Taking a dig at the ruling BJP for appointing five ministers as election in-charges for the upcoming Assembly by-election in Kedarnath, former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has said that such tactics of the ruling party will have no effect on poll outcome. Rawat said that the people of Kedarnath have made up their mind to teach the BJP a lesson for its consistent neglect of the constituency. He said that the BJP leadership can also go for expansion of the Dhami cabinet to induct more ministers in the battle of Kedarnath by-election. He claimed that those aspiring for a berth in the cabinet are cautioning the BJP leadership about the chances of Congress party in Kedarnath. The former CM said that the Congress is bound to win the Kedarnath bypoll and induction of even a dozen ministers in the Kedarnath political battle field will have no effect on the poll outcome.
In an oblique reference on the possibility of Congress fielding former Pradesh Congress Committee ( PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal from the constituency, he said, “The people have some expectations from the Congress party and it should filed a candidate with clean image by chanting mantra of Jai Ganesha.”
The Congress insiders are of the view that Harish Rawat’s statement about the need for someone with a clean image to be the candidate of the party is a message to Congress State leadership that it should not consider the possible claim of former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat from Kedarnath.
