After organising a successful rally in Rishikesh, the Bhoo Kanoon Samanvya Sangharsh Samiti (BKSSS) is now planning to hold rallies in Haridwar and election bound Kedarnath for exerting pressure on the State government for stringent land laws in Uttarakhand.
The Bhoo Kanoon activists are emboldened by the announcement of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who said that a bill on land law will be tabled in the next year’s budget session of the Vidhan Sabha. They now want that the government should expedite the process of bringing a strict law on land laws and for this they have announced to hold rallies in Haridwar and Kedarnath. It is pertinent to mention here that due to the death of the incumbent MLA Shaila Rani Rawat of BJP, the Kedarnath assembly seat is presently vacant and the election commission is likely to hold by election in the constituency in November or December. After the twin defeats in Manglaur (Haridwar) and Badrinath (Chamoli) to the opposition Congress, the State leadership of the ruling BJP is under tremendous pressure to retain the Kedarnath seat. Keeping this in mind the BKSSS has decided to hold a rally in Kedarnath as well.
The BKSSS convenor Mohit Dimri told The Pioneer that the samiti has decided to hold a meeting in Kedarnath for stringent land laws in the State. He said that a rally will also be organised in Kedarnath. Dimri said that the BKSSS will use every opportunity to put pressure on the State government for stringent land laws in the State. He said that though the CM has assured that the land laws will be tabled in the budget session, the time gap of four to five months is enough for the land sharks to grab lands in the State. Dimri added that a ban on sale and purchase of land in the mountainous districts should be imposed till the stringent land laws are implemented.
