Those who are fond of mythological tales will like what Hiranya Borah is doing with the characters in “The Blessed One”.

The novel revolves around a curse; similar to stories of a condemnation hunting a family generation after generation, the protagonist being on the firing cord of the curse is saved by the blessing of his mother and mother goddess. The basic theme of the book is “blessings are more powerful than the curses”.

For someone who has interest in mythology, this book tells the stories of curses, blessings, deception, devotion and fruition. The story has crisp and smooth twists and every chapter has something different to offer. In his novel, Borah has complete control over the story and style. The unexpected ending is a fitting denouement to an epic and memorable excursion.
