Block Panchayat passes proposal to start Mansarovar Yatra from Niti valley

A proposal to start Mansarovar Yatra from the Niti valley in Chamoli district was passed in the meeting of the block Panchayat here on Tuesday. A proposal to start science stream in the government inter college at Jakhola was also passed in the meeting. Various issues were discussed in the meeting presided over by block Pramukh Harish Parmar and attended by block development committee members and officials.
Addressing the meeting, Parmar said that joint efforts by all are needed to ensure that the benefit of the schemes reaches the needy. He stressed on the need to properly implement development works and various schemes of the government. He said that all efforts will be made to get the issues raised by public representatives resolved through the departments concerned. Various Gram Pradhans and other public representatives submitted written proposals for development works in the villages. The chief development officer Lalik Narayan Mishra said that there is considerable scope for cultivation of herbs, fruits and vegetables in the region. He said that such activity should be taken up on a cluster basis. Convergence with MNREGA will benefit the farmers, he added. Officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Cooperatives, Panchayati Raj and other departments provided information about various departmental schemes. The district development officer informed that of the MNREGA works done in Chamoli district last year, the best was done in Joshimath block. The public representatives raised issues related to various roads in their respective areas during the meeting. Works under PM Awas Yojana, improper garbage disposal in Gram Panchayat areas, water supply under Jal Jeevan mission and the demand for insuring walnut like other crops were among the other issues raised by public representatives in the meeting.
