Following the laying of the foundation stone by Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, the construction of the blood bank at Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital has officially commenced on the hospital premises. Rawat, accompanied by district magistrate Savin Bansal, laid the foundation stone for the blood bank and also inaugurated the ASHA Ghar.
Regarding the current progress of the blood bank, the medical superintendent of the hospital Dr VS Chauhan stated that the construction work began following the foundation stone ceremony. The blood bank is being constructed in proximity to the hospital’s oxygen plant. Further, he said that the State administration has allocated a budget of Rs 1.42 crore for the establishment of the blood bank.
He said that the construction of the blood bank is projected to be completed by December 2025. It has been stated that the establishment of this facility will eliminate the need for patients and hospital staff to spend time searching for blood at other hospitals, as it will be readily available within the district hospital. The creation of the blood bank is anticipated to be beneficial for both patients and the hospital administration, he said.
It will be recalled that, following the directive of the DM the hospital administration has submitted a proposal for the blood bank to the State administration, which was approved recently. Further, the state administration has issued a tender for the construction of the blood bank to Peyjal Nigam. Additionally, the blood bank will require 2,000 square feet of land by regulatory guidelines. However, given the limited space available at the district hospital, the blood bank will be constructed across two floors.
