Man and woman suspected to have committed suicide by consuming pesticide
Authorities recovered two bodies from Sharda forest range in Champawat which is located near the India-Nepal border. The bodies are of a 56-year-old man and 60-year-old woman from Nepal who appear to have allegedly committed suicide by consuming a pesticide, as per Avinash Verma, circle officer (CO) of Tanakpur, Champawat. He told The Pioneer that some personnel from the Forest department discovered the bodies late on Monday night after which they called the police.
The police found the bodies in an open ground without any visible external wounds. The police team found a small box containing the pesticide lying just a few inches away from the bodies, said the CO. “Considering the evidence gathered so far, it appears like both persons committed suicide but nothing can be said for sure till we get the post mortem report,” said Verma. He said that the police have sent the bodies for the post mortem examination and will investigate the case accordingly after the report. They are also in touch with the Nepalese police regarding the matter. The bodies will be handed over to the family members after completion of the post mortem procedure, added the CO.
