The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Friday retrieved the body of a 31-year-old man from the Tons river in the Kalsi area of the Dehradun district. The officials informed that a man named Yashpal Singh, a resident of Kalsi, drowned in the river on March 1. When the police got information about the incident, they called the diving team of SDRF to rescue the man but he could not be found despite an intense search operation, said the officials.
The team continued the search operation the next day for several hours but once again, failed to find the body. The officials said that the diving team finally found the body on Friday morning about 40 feet deep in the river. The team retrieved the body and handed it over to the police. The officials said that the man allegedly fell into the river by accident and appears to die by drowning but they would be able to determine the cause of death only after getting further information from medical experts.
